Dan Knebel, Andy Knebel
& Margo Knebel Redlinger operate Knebel Windows, Inc. Knebel Windows
is the only area dealer for Weather Shield Windows & Doors, Winstrom
Windows & Doors and Mon-Ray storm windows, storm door & Mon-Ray
Glasswall Porch Enclosures. Knebel Windows operates three installation
crews with a seven-vehicle fleet and a showroom at 700 South Capitol
Street in Iowa City.
Knebel Windows was founded
in 1980 when Patrick Knebel and his wife Margo purchased Miller
Rusco Window Company. During the 1980's the company expanded to
include repair service, either on-site or in-shop and became known
for its selection of hard to find window parts.
As the consumer became
more aware of energy conservation and the energy crisis became real,
residential replacement windows gained in popularity. Knebel Windows
expanded their lines to include a larger selection of storm windows,
storm doors and added replacement windows. In conjunction, the service
department was beginning to see the demand for more selection. Patterned
glass began to take on many different uses - from utilitarian to
decorative. Mirror installations were made available, also.
Many changes were prevalent
during the decade of the 90's. Knebel Windows introduced a line
of entry doors and sidelights, wood and vinyl replacement or new
construction windows, porch enclosures, shower doors and commercial
storefronts. They have seen many advances in the use of glass and
incorporated them into business. Insulated glass has become fairly
standard in residential windows with some utilizing Low-E argon
gas glass units for increased insulating and UV protection.
Knebel Windows has evolved
into a unique business as a full line of window and door dealership
with a complete glass and mirror shop. By offering a diverse product
line, as well as repair and installation service, Knebel Windows,
Inc. has established themselves as the premier window company in
the area.
Knebel Windows serves
the residential homeowner, the remodeling contractor, the building
contractor and area architects.
